My favorite children's books are: Bridge to Terabithia - Katherine Patterson (<--- if you haven't read this yet, do!) The Last Unicorn - Peter S Beagle When I was little I loved the Noel Streatfield (sp?) books (Ballet Shoes, etc) and definitely anything by Paula Danziger Winnie the Pooh, etc and also Betsy Byars' and Ellen Conford's books. A few months ago I was listening to National Public Radio on Sunday, which means silly game shows, and someone calls in, and when the host asked who it was, the voice said "My name is Ellen Conford" and I thought *no way!* Well, then, the host asks her what her profession is, and she replies "I write books for young people" (or something like that) - now THAT made me smile - I was listening to one of my favorite children's authors! And of course the Hobbit and Alice in Wonderland/Through the looking glass. I used to read A LOT. Like, in grade 6, a novel almost every day. and over one summer I kept track and I read something like 220 books between the end of June and September. -Yael, who reads almost nothing but scholarly articles now, grumble, but is reading the 3rd book in His Dark Materials series, which I recommend to all big children.
