I've never seen PJ Harvey perform live.
However, I think "To Bring You My Love," "Dance Hall At Louse Point," and
"Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea" are all three modern classics,
on a par with Patti Smith's best work (i.e., "Easter").

Michael's right that PJ's "To Bring You..." is rather blues-ish.
And Bob, the single you heard is easily the worst and most atypical song on
the record. My favorite track has got to be "Long Snake Moan." Killer song,
among several.
I'm not real crazy about Liz Phair either. Polly Jean leaves her in the
dust...
BTW Bree, which disc did you buy?

Joni/PJ connection's:
In Karen O'Brien's new bio of Joni it implies that PJ's latest title
("Stories From The City...") was inspired by STAS's subtitles ("I Came To The
City / Out Of The City And Down To The Seaside").
Also, several people have noted that the cover portrait of PJ Harvey on her
album "To Bring You My Love" (with her floating on her back in a pool) was
copped from the great pool photograph's (by Norman Seeff) of Joni for THOSL.

You must admit---if PJ's a Joni fan, at least she doesn't attempt to copy her
style in any way.
Smart girl, I say...

Billy

Very funny Bob.

I DO aim to please, Billy...nice to see you back. And further to PJ Harvey, I
was talking to my cousin about Polly Jean about a year ago, as she's a big
fan and I was trying to see why. She said that PJ's strength is not in her
studio recordings but rather in concert. She had a couple of boots, but I
remained unimpressed. However, that Stories From the Sea thingy, that rocks.

So that's another thing.

Bob
