I watched Matt Lauer interview Madonna this morning. He was asking her about various songs she had written over the years. She replied that each song was like a snapshot of her life at the time the song was written. Then she said "songs are like tattoos, you know". She said it with a knowing glint in her eye as if it was a message for those in the know.
