The vivid Joni image for me is "Edith and the Kingpin"

Just graduating from college, coming back to my small Florida town and the
disco craze was in high gear. The only place to dance was an ABC Liquor
Store/ Lounge.
There was one "big man" who wore a white "John Travolta" suit. It was
obvious to all that he was *the* kingpin of the town, and he always had a
girl hanging on each arm.
"His eyes hold Edith
His left hand holds his right
What does that hand desire
That he grips it so tight"
Of course there was always an Edith at the ABC lounge, and the other girls
envied her so. (whoever the Edith of the night was). We all knew what the
Kingpin had and what made him so popular.
Anyway, I was one of the "square" people wearing my peach colored double knit
pants with a matching Nik Nik shirt and a puka shell necklace. I stood in the
corner waiting for the next line dance to start.
I don't know what the Kingpin and Edith did in his bed, but at the ABC Lounge
my eyes were always on *them*.
