Yeah, I've heard of it (insert emoticon here). It's a watershed classic, leading the way to BITCHES BREW, LIVE EVIL, and beyond. It's another of my favorites, and I've been reexamining it a lot this past year. I just got the IN A SILENT WAY: COMPLETE SESSIONS box set for Christmas, and it's fantastic. I'd still stick to my recommendation for starting with KIND OF BLUE, though. If one were to listen to that side by side with IN A SILENT WAY, it would blow your mind that it was the same artist ... Miles was an even more radical shape-changer than Joni. -Fred
