You were referring to Anthony Hopkins' butler in THE REMAINS OF THE DAY with Emma Thompson as Miss Kenton. That scene where she was leaving him for the last time in the train was most heartbreaking -- no dialogue, just incipient tears in placid faces. As for SHADOWLANDS, I like Hopkins here even more even if if it was Debra Winger who chewed the scenery most of the time. Yes, he played CS Lewis to Debra's Joy. The theater was awash with tears, if I remember right. Joseph (a movie freak and ... a freak most of the time!)
