of course you could. English literature (not a contradiction in terms) is
full of such examples, especially in poetry, but it happens too in many
songs. Ill not give examples here but Jonis songs are, I suspect, full
of examples too. OK, Ill give one example thats just jumped into my
head. Natalie Merchant sings in The Lowlands of Holland The weary winds
began to roar, the seas they began to shout Its the effect of the storm
at sea that makes the sailors weary but the adjective is applied to the
cause rather than the effect, or if you prefer, to the agent rather than
