Where does the image of Beethoven shaking his fist defiantly at the skies
come from? Art? Literature? Theater? Or is it Joni's invention?

The reason I ask is that I am reading a collection of short stories by Tobias
Wolff called "Back in the World," and in a story entitled "Desert Breakdown,
1968," Wolff writes the following about a German character named Krystal:

<< "Never," Krystal said. She admired the sound of the word. It was like
Beethoven shaking his fist at the heavens. >>

Anyway, I thought it would be cool if Wolff got this image from Joni ("You
got to shake your fists at lightening now"), but my guess is that Joni got it
from somewhere else. Anyone know?

Also, as some of you may remember, about a month or so ago I offered to work
on a new section of the JMDL which would have to do with Joni mentions in
fiction and possibly films. I now have the time to begin this project, so if
you have ever come across a reference to Joni in novels, short stories, or
movies in the past, please let me know what the book or movie was.

Thanks,
