So, I rented the supposedly "dreadful" Dylan movie, "Renaldo and
Clara" last night and boy was I in for a surprise, the film is actually
good, that is if you can stand choppy editing and a sloppy soap opera with
bad acting. Overall, I feel that I could sit through and watch the whole 4
hours again. The best line would have to be when someone asks
Dylan/Renaldo, "Don't you know the law is looking for you? and he replies,
"I am the law".
ANyways, I was hoping for any JOni content and about half way
through at the end of tape one at the Hurricane Concert at the Women's
center, after "Knocking on Heaven's Door" you see Joni talking to someone
from the stage. I was extremely dissapointed, but later in one of the
bordello scenes an instrumental version of "The Boho Dance" is playing in
the soundtrack, obviously Joni on piano. So, it wasnt a speaking or singing
cameo or Joni playing a gypsie or anything but it was a nice touch.
Otherwise the Dylan performances are stupenduos.
I am sure many have seen this film and this has been discussed
many a time, but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm.
Sincerely,
Blair
NP: The Boho Dance, Joni
