Hello Friends-
I am writing to you today (with no njc tag so I can reach everyone) to
appeal for help with this patient named Jaime, I am currently working with.
Dr. Larach asked for my help several months ago and I agreed even though the
patient is an adult (The Ruth Paz Foundation was established to carry on my
mothers work with children). NIH has agreed to do this procedure, but monies
are needed for room and board for the patient after the surgery for a period
of 3-6 months. I have been collecting funds for this patient and so far have
raised only a couple of thousand dollars. This money would be used to house
and feed Jaime. It occured to me that there might be someone in the area that
had the facility to house Jaime. See the letter that was sent to me by Dr.
Larach this morning. If any one in the Bethesda or DC area is able to help
with housing or if anyone has any other ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.
We are under alot of pressure because of the time line. The brother would
only be here for a few days during the harvesting of the stem cells and would
be able to return to Honduras within a few days. Jaime would need follow up
at the hospital for a period of up to 6 months. I could assist with monies
for food and for his transportation expenses. Please contact me at my office
if you have any questions or ideas (504-731-3412). Thanks again in advance
for your attention and please pardon the non-Joni bandwidth.
Peace
Michael
