While I'm admittedly not an expert on the big package tours, for edification sake,
I'll
toss in a few comments for the discussion.

I would bet that one significant factor in the ticket price is the schedule. CSNY is
largely doing four show weeks, some three and some five. No matter how many
shows they do in a week, the crew is going to be paid for a whole week. I'm guessing
the schedule is in no small part related to Croz's health. I had the great fortune of
working with CPR for a short time in '99 and I can tell you, it was a struggle for him
to
walk half a flight of stairs.

I would also guess that there will be a lot of flying and not a lot of bus time for
the
band. So even though the staging may not be elaborate, the weekly cost is probably
more than one would expect. Compound that with marketplace demand, the financial
guarantee to get Stephen and Neil to do it and your everyday variety of greed and you
get a high price.

(I would also be really surprised if Reprise is providing any direct tour support. It
would
only be recouped for Neil and it would hardly make sense for him to agree to that.)

Kakki mentioned Clear Channel. Clear Channel's dominance of live music promotion,
club ownership and radio station ownership is probably the most egregious and
dangerous factor effecting the music industry today. Forget about recordable cd's,
mp3's and major label distribution dominance. Clear Channel is not only looking to
take over the music industry but it is run by coercive idiots. For those interested,
here
is an article that lays out their tactics:
