Yes, but Time Out of Mind also gets down and boogies. Its touchstone is the 
blues tradition (extensively discussed on r.m.d.) and has its own LOL 
lyrics (and not just Highlands, either). Love and Theft relates more to a 
thirties tradition, but its blues, High Water, is as dark as anything on 
Love and Theft. I was thinking more of Bob's gravelliest voice and the 
excellence of both albums.

Perhaps pairing them was a little like those recommendations on DVDs -- "If 
you liked Predator try Kindergarten Cop" -- that sort of thing.

A little more "produced" than Time Out of Mind, wouldn't you say? I love 
it, but I think I might prefer the Ring Them Bells boot of Oh Mercy outtakes.
