Have we discussed the Eileen Ivers Band on this list? Mary and I saw them last night at The Barns of Wolf Trap (http://www.wolftrap.org/), and they just about blew the roof off the place! Eileen plays a blue fiddle and is accompanied by acoustic guitar, electric bass, pipes, latin percussion, harmonica, American- and Irish-style TAP DANCING, and powerful vocals (by Tommy McDonnell of Blues Brothers fame).
The sound is described as "Irish-based fusion," and it's an incredible blend of Irish, Caribbean and African influences (although at one point I turned to Mary and said, "Whoa! Heavy metal fiddle!"). It was truly an awesome and FUN show. I highly recommend seeing this band if you get the chance. You won't regret it! http://www.eileenivers.com/ Rock on, Lori ~ Yahoo!
