The Joni in Fiction section of the JMDL is beginning to take shape thanks to
your contributions. But as Joni says, "You know there may be more." So if
you've seen any Joni references in whatever novels or short stories you've
been reading, please let me know.
Here's what we have so far:
_The Association_, by Bentley Little
_Hearts in Atlantis _, by Stephen King
_The Hissing of the Silent Lonely Room (Christy Kennedy Mystery)_, by Paul
Charles
_Pool Boy_, by an unknown author
(I have tried everything from Amazon to eBay to the Library of Congress
to find this less than mediocre book which I read a couple of years ago and
then gave away when I moved from RI. I have even checked Altavista, which
gives you some pretty wild selections when you type "Pool Boy" into their
search field. Recently, some JMDLers have enthusiastically pointed out how
advanced my Alzheimer's has become when I've been confused about artists or
titles, so maybe I am wrong about the title, and -- surprise! - I can't
remember the author. But I know the book is by a writer who lived in
Provincetown when it was published a couple of years ago, if that helps
anyone remember what the title may be. The Joni reference in this book is
about singing her songs at camp when the subject of the novel was a boy in
the 1980s, I think.)
_A Prayer for Owen Meany_, by John Irving
_She's Come Undone_, by Wally Lamb
_Speaking with the Angel_, edited by Nick Hornby
_Who WIll Run the Frog Hospital?_, by Lorrie Moore
Thanks,
