Sounds like a good idea. > The intention of the proposed regulations > is to protect the copyright holders, but it sounds like the copyright office > definitely needs more input from those most affected, rather than the RIAA. > By the way, wasn't it the original purpose of the RIAA to protect artists? Not that I know of. I believe the Recording Artists Coalition (RAC) recently formed-is the first of it's kind. Maybe you are thinking of ASCAP which started out as an advocacy group for composers and publishers. BTW-RAC has a great website which deals with the many issues surrounding the music biz as it relates to artists. http://www.recordingartistscoalition.com/index.html BTW BTW You lucky LA folks can go to any of four RAC benefits tomorrow (Tues) night: THE RECORDING ARTISTS' COALITION CONFIRMS LINE-UPS FOR "CONCERTS FOR ARTISTS' RIGHTS;" FEBRUARY 26 SHOWS TO TAKE PLACE AT FOUR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA VENUES At The Forum: Eagles Billy Joel John Fogerty Stevie Nicks Sheryl Crow At The Long Beach Arena No Doubt The Offspring Weezer & Friends At The Universal Amphitheatre The Dixie Chicks Trisha Yearwood Emmylou Harris Dwight Yoakam & Friends At The Wiltern Theatre accoustic performances by Beck Eddie Vedder Mike Ness
