In Section 2, Arts and Leisure, of the Sunday, March 2, New York Times, on
page 31, are two side-by-side articles about Abbey Lincoln. In one, "Abbey
Lincoln, Maker of Her Own Genre," by Lara Pellegrinelli, is the following:

"Rather than being measured against Kern, Gershwin or a contemporary like
Michel Legrand, she is better served by comparisons to other female
songwriters who blossomed in the late 60's and early 70's like Nina Simone,
Joni Mitchell and Dory Previn."
