Nice to see Joni getting some attention for the influence of her guitar
playing. This blurb is from the Feb 19, 2002, NYTimes review of
Cassandra Wilson's show at the Blue Note jazz club:

The show came entirely from Ms. Wilson's forthcoming album on Blue Note
records, "Belly of the Sun," to be released next month. The album
continues to follow the form set by "Blue Light Till Dawn," the album
that expanded her audience nearly a decade ago.

"Blue Light" combined various tasteful elements in a precious but
ingenious collection. Here the formula was little altered: slide guitar
from the blues (played by Kevin Breit); acoustic fingerpicking harking
back to Joni Mitchell's early progressive-harmony period (Marvin Sewell,
who is the band's musical director); the swinging bass lines of jazz
(Mark Peterson); the military bass drum and trianglelike pings of samba
percussion (Cyro Baptista); the conga of Cuban music (Jeffrey Haynes).
