It would be great to see anyone who can come to this show. It features
myself and Eleni, a friend of Kate's from California. Kate and Jeff
performed there a year ago...my how time flies...

Hello there Golden Hill Concert Series folks,

On May 4th, we will have a Double Concert with the widely traveled Eleni
Kelakos and the unique stylist Victor Johnson. Please come join us for a
fine concert. For those of you who attend the Evening Star Series, Eleni
played there with Small Potatoes one year ago, and we have been eagerly
awaiting her return ever since.... and as it says below, Victor has shone
at Atlanta's Inman Park Spring Festival for several years running.

My daughter Robin and I leave for India tomorrow, but we will return in
time for the concert. I want to thank the many of you who've written us
notes of support and wisdom following the accidental death of Robin's
young brother-in-law, Sanjay..... those notes are appreciated a great
deal, and we'll be bolstered by them as we travel to join our grieving
family in Jaipur.

Golden Hill Concert Series Presents Double Bill with Eleni Kelakos &
Victor Johnson

Hollingsworth On Saturday, May 4, at 8 PM, the Golden Hill Concert
Series brings both Eleni Kelakos and Victor Johnson to its stage. Each
songwriter will entertain for more than an hour in this special double
bill program at Golden Hill Community Center off US 441, six miles south
of Cornelia.

With six feet of presence, power and passion, Eleni Kelakos brings a warm
and comfortable intimacy to her live performance, spinning her musical
stories with humor, insight and a shattering truthfulness. Celebrated for
having "one of the most powerful and dynamic voices in the indie world
today" (Independent Songwriter Web Magazine), Kelakos tells stories full
of the rich details of human experience, infusing them with an engaging
theatricality honed by many years as an actress of the stage and screen.

Her debut CD, "I Will Fly" and her second release "To the Bone" received
excellent reviews, and between them, were included on the Folk DJ List of
BEST NEW CDs, as well as Richard Gillmans lists for MOST AIRED CDs; TOP
SONGS, ARTISTS; and TOP CDs.

Kelakos believes deeply in the transformational power of the sung and
spoken word, and she tackles "difficult" subject matter: spousal abuse in
"Nickels and Dimes," gang violence in "Buried in L.A.," sexism and ageism
in "The Application," but she shines a light on these issues without
imposing her own solution. Sending a message of hope and empowerment
through personal choice, her thought-provoking, emotionally stirring, and
uplifting music has moved audiences across America, including her fine
performance at John F. Kennedy Center.

Atlanta/Athens-based songwriter Victor Johnson uses unconventional
chords, interwoven melodies, and vibrant images to create richly textured
musical tapestries. Sometimes reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and Nick
Drake, Johnsons music possesses a striking originality, and his
exceptional voice combines with engaging lyrics to spellbind audiences.

Johnsons debut CD "Tangled" features the song "Three Days in Paris," in
which young lovers walk through fields of sunflowers and climb cathedral
towers only to find that "the bells wouldnt ring." Through the lush
ballad "Blue" and the rich harmony of "Melancholy," the CD explores the
depths of human love, and how entangled those emotions can become,
ranging from an ode to divine beauty "Aphrodite" to love that is utterly
lost in "All the Mornings of the World."

Johnson, a natural, intuitive musician, recorded and played the entirety
of "Tangled," including the guitar, mandolin, piano, bass and saxophone
parts. He studied piano at an early age, began playing guitar at age 15,
and sang in several choirs before his graduation from Guilford College
and subsequent studies in sound engineering at Full Sail Center for the
Recording Arts. Johnson recently performed at Howling Wolf in New Orleans
as part of a Joni Mitchell tribute that will soon be released on CD to
benefit the Ruth Paz Foundation. He has also been a regular performer at
Inman Park Spring Festival and Candler Park Music and Arts Festival in
Atlanta.

Golden Hill Concert Series was begun in Banks County in October 2000, as
a sister venue to the Evening Star Music Series held in
Sautee-Nachoochee. The two venues carefully co-ordinate their schedules
so that concert dates do not overlap, and the mission of both concert
series is to bring top quality acoustic music to the people of Northeast
Georgia.

Concertgoers are asked to bring along some snack foods and/or beverages
for sharing, "Potluck" style, on the venues banquet tables during
intermission. This is in keeping with the friendly, down-home atmosphere
of the concert series and its casual come-as-you-are approach. Music and
setting are always suitable for children, and you are invited to bring
the whole family along.

Reservations are not required, but are recommended for this event. Call
706 778-1716 to reserve seats, to obtain directions to the venue which is
10 minutes south of Cornelia/Baldwin, or to inquire about any other
details. Please call before the day of the concert and, if necessary,
please leave a message; your call will be returned promptly.
