Fred wrote: Yeah, it was great to hear that Joni excerpt, not to mention hearing Wayne Shorter on mainstream TV. But this wasn't crap TV, and possibly you should care about Ms. O'Donnell. I know that my opinion of her zoomed way up learning that her unflagging efforts to overturn Florida's archaic law against adoption of children by gay parents seem to now be paying off. Two state senators have introduced a bill to void the law, and her very visible activism, both on "crap" TV and in several full page newspaper ads, had a lot to do with this. I applaud her, and wish every celebrity would use their fame as effectively for social good. - -Fred Me again: Fred, I think you may have read too much into my use of the phrase "crap TV." What I mean by that is my lazy habit of pushing the channel-changer to find the least objectionabe program. I don't have anything against Ms. O'Donnell and bravo to her for what she's done for gays. I merely get tired of the celebrity hype, the -- to me it seems -- careful release of her being gay to coincide with the release of her book (I think we all knew she was gay) so that it starts up a lot of media hype. I tire of seeing her on every magazine cover, hearing her name every time I turn on the TV, etc. It's more my objection to the media than her personally. I didn't mean to offend. It's nice that her love of Joni got Joni some more exposure in my view. Lindsay
