Hi Josh!!

Welcome to the list!! I know a little about your quandry....so I hope the
following is helpful.

The VG-88-is an upgrade of Rolands orig. VG-8. Among the differences: An
expression pedal to control various paramaters in real time (to volume,
distoration, delay, etc.) and a 1/4 input which allows you to use any guitar
that does not have the special Roland pickup installed, although you won't
be able to take full advantage of the units power to say the least. This
pickup (GK-2A) is a hexaphonic type which allows each string to be processed
individually. Therefore each string can have it's won user defined tuning
assignable per patch. Also, the VG-88 uses computer modeling of various
Amp/spkr/mic/guit combinations to reproduce classic guitar. tones or tones
you design yourself. Joni uses a Parker Fly with factory installed GK-2A,
but you can get a strat or some other guitars with factory GK-2A's as well.
Another option would be to install the pickup on your own axe (they can be
user-installed on many electronics)

There are people here who use both the VG-8 and the VG-88...and might be
able to add to what I have written.

I'm not a musician per se....in fact....I'm pretty bad. But I know a little
about this stuff because I helped my brother build a home recording
studio.(and he has a lot of the gadgets and gizmos)So when I'm paying for
something,I want to know ALL the details. :-)

Hope this was helpful...

Take care,

Bree

PS: I have been listening to TTT for the past week or so and am just loving
it more and more.......WOW!!! Those guitar sounds.......
