Thanks Warren! For going to all the trouble to find that. Not to spread more rumours, but I've always imagined that "Coyote" was at least partially about Neil Young. Maybe I saw this in the line that goes : "......while your up early on your ranch. You'll be brushing out a brood mare's tail, while the sun is ascending......" knowing that Neil has a ranch.
Not that I want to gossip, but I have a sort of runaway imagination, and I like to look for patterns and connect the dots. Especially, when you find references from other artists from the same time period and can put a picture together. I just used to imagine that Joni purposely stuck that line "my vain darling" in her song to reference the same person in Carly's song. It seems so fitting, but we may never know.
