Nancy was only about 2 years old. She went missing Thursday night and I found her under our deck when we got home from work yesterday. The vet is pretty sure she was hit by a car, managed to get home and died sometime during the night. We've had one cat disappear and have had to have others put down but finding one dead is a first for me. I wish I had a Joni concert to go to tonight. You were lucky. i have new cats now, maeve and baxter, which were stray > kittens i adopted shortly after i lost luanne. i hope you will plan to find a > new kitty > friend shortly, it certainly helped me recover from my loss. ( joni was there > to console me as well !) i also hope you will consider giving a much needed > home to a stray when and if you do... We have two other cats. One is 13 or 14 years old and was a farm cat that came from a friend's parents farm when he was a kitten. The other we just adopted from PAWS last year to be a playmate for Nancy. He is an orange tiger named Oscar and is a ball of fire. Just now I have been looking out at our back yard and thinking about the two of them chasing each other around & playing out there. Nancy also came from PAWS. We are great believers in adopting strays. Derrick (the elderly cat that came from the farm) and one other cat are the only ones that have ever lived with me that were not strays. My late partner Edward gave Derrick to me for my birthday one year after we had lost another cat. That one was also hit by a car but a very kind neighbor found him and spared us the trauma of seeing him. His name was Peepers and his mother belonged to our best friends. The other cats have all either come from PAWS or been strays we found or were adopted from people who couldn't keep them anymore. The same is true of the two dogs I have had. > > in sympathy, > warren keith Thank you, Warren. I appreciate it. Mark
