Yes, it's been quite the talk all over the news here. The comments I've heard so far in reaction to the ruling are "ridiculous," "assinine," "embarrassing," and "stupid" and those are coming from both Democrat and Republican representatives. I believe it was the Senate who unanimously voted today to condemn the ruling. I believe the ruling itself is unconstitutional since the First Amendment guarantees the right to freedom of religious expression. I don't believe anyone should be required to say the pledge but those who do should certainly not be considered "lawbreakers." The 9th Circuit Court that made the ruling has had a pretty bad reputation for awhile now (has the record for the the most rulings overturned) but I never realized just how off they really are. What next? Abolishing the word "God" on our currency? Arresting schoolchildren who sing "God Bless America?" Unbelievable.
