Hi Mia, Joni constantly gets hammered with questions asking her what she what she thinks about Shawn Colvin/Sheryl Crow/Jewel etc. Basically any girl with a guitar gets compared to Joni. Joni always responds that nobody else writes and composes like she does and they shouldn't be compared to her. While it comes off as arrogance, it's not intended that way. I haven't heard any of the artists in question compare themselves to Joni, they are always in awe of her, and rightfully so. It's just the press that screws it up. But perhaps bubbling underneath there's a resentment from Joni when one of the new faces strikes it big while mining the same turf that Joni has done with so much more success. And fwiw, I've always liked Jewel's "Pieces Of You" and still play it. Bob
