Hey! Who you callin' wrong? I'll give you my being
wrong on my watered-down definition of capitalism
because I never studied political science or economics
and that was just the way I always thought capitalism
would be explained - otherwise, who *wouldn't* see it
as a bad thing?

I said:
"Theoretically, capitalism is good, because if we all
work hard, we'll all make lots of money, and no one
will go to bed hungry at night, and we'll all have
satellite dishes and big cars or whatever we see as
signs of success.

And you said:
"errr, actually, no, capitalism is fundamentally based
on the extraction of profit from someone else's
labour, and therefore is not even theoretically good.
I know (at least I think I know) that Catherine is
being ironic here but those first four words cannot
pass without comment."

Yes, of course I was being ironic, silly. I suppose it
would be nice, in a way, to make money off the backs
of others, but I really couldn't live with myself if I
did that, and I can't exactly kick myself out,
unfortunately...

Then I said,
"as Charlie Brown (or maybe it was Snoopy) once said:
"I love mankind. It's people I can't stand"

and you replied:
"Wrong again Catherine, it was Tom Waits who said
"There's one thing you can say about mankind; there's
nothing kind about man"

So me, now. You're probably right about TW (he does
have a way with words!), but I know I'm NOT wrong
about my quote - I know it was a Peanuts character,
most likely Charlie Brown, because ages ago my sister
had the sweatshirt (have you ever known a sweatshirt
to lie?)
