I think Rose and I were the only JMDLers who watched the VMAs tonight.

Bruce was great, too bad he was in the rain -

Eminem, 4 wins, and a very lively performance, and I missed how the
thing with Moby started tonight - that has been festering for a long
time, and Moby was into that annoying hand puppet tonight while Em
wasn't -

The Hive and the Vine, two new groups, very impressive sets, although
the Hive was so, too, retro, I think Vine has a better future -

could P Diddy have had anyone else on stage for his number?

three wins for the White Stripes, and after all these years, the break
through award!!!

Seeing TLC on stage without Lisa Lopes, TBoz and Chili were very
emotional, brought a tear to my eyes, the most touching moment of the
night.

Sheryl Crow was excellent; I didn't know she played the piano. Trotting
out Rudy Gulliani to introduce Crow was kind of lame, IMHO. But Crow at
the piano made me long to see see Joni at the piano again.

Not as good of a show as usual. But when your big finale is Guns and
Roses, you are getting quite lame. What's next, a newcomer award for
Foreigner? Why have Axyl on stage anyway, he hasn't done a thing in
years - and there was Mary J. Blige in the audience, she would have set
the place on fire.

Not sure why the show wasn't as good, but most of the performers did not
set the world on fire tonight, and the presenters were far more scripted
and a lot less spontaneous than in years past. Avril Lavigne
(spelling?) came across to me as a punk, not in the good way. And most
of the rest were dull.
