I've been playin gordon's tunes since i learned guitar in the late 60's...
something about the simplicity and beauty of great melodies and poetic
lyrics... really appealed to me then, and now...

i may have grown out of gordon a bit, but something always brings me back to
his tunes

my top five gordon tunes:

go my way
beautiful
early mornin rain
miguel
ballad of yarmouth castle ( much better than the wreck of edmund fitzgerald,
imho) same topic

pussywillows cattails is also gorgeous lyrically and melodically, and if you
could read my mind has some great stuff in it.... kenny rankin's version of
pussywillows is superb

saw my best friend's wedding the other night... thought the scene where julia
robert's gay friend explains how they met and launches into a dionne warwick
tune, with everyone chiming in perfectly, was hysterical... i think you super
talented jmdl performers should do something like that at a jonifest at some
point...

enjoyed hearing about the festival... thanks to all

someday soon, going to party, someday soon

my first joni album, yes, vinyl, was blue, and i remember my dad making some
wisecrack about it... carey and the title track mesmerized me most... but came
to love songs like morning morgantown, michael from mountains, circle game,
rainy night house... she's never been underrated in my book, or
underappreciated... although lots of guys who dig rocknroll don't like her i
guess... of course, i kinda like i'm so square (baby i don't care) isn't that
kindof rocknroll?

delurking for a moment
