All You Need Is Love? (I didn't check) I am reading a book called 'Stardust Melodies' by Will Friedwald, which treats rather exhaustively 12 great 'American Songbook' songs: Stardust, Night and Day, Mack the Knife, My Funny Valentine, As Time Goes By, St. Louis Blues, and so on.
He does the whole history of the tune...the writers, the structure and lyrics, the discographies and all the covers over time. Recommended for structure nuts and musicians. While reading about St. Louis Blues, I kept thinking about Joni's lyric about W.C.Handy - 'I'm rich and I'm fey, and I'm not familiar with what you play...' What? She never heard St. Louis Blues?????
