not so sure about the politically naive part...i think that many artists
have another view entirely of politics, often they are more visionary,
idealistic than nuts & bolts political...but without our visionary people
where would we be?...maybe you could also call bob dylan politically naive
with his song 'blowin in the wind', a song he wrote in his youth...(that
song is on my top 10 of all time great songs ever written...)

last year, a friend of mine decided to sing "fiddle & the drum' at our
tribute to joni mitchell show...the entire room was riveted...this was early
november 2001, we'd just experienced 9/11 & had gone to war in afghanistan &
those who were not happy with this decision to go to war & all the flag
waving patriotism were feeling in the minority...the song was completely
relevant & a very powerful voice calling for another way...
