I have a 12-yr-old son and a 15-yr-old daughter. You can be sure it scares the crap out of me to think that either one of them could end up fighting in a war of any kind. My Dad volunteered and fought in the Canadian Army in WWII and I remember very clearly during the Viet Nam war when he said how glad he was that he wasn't in the USA and of an age to have to fight in that war.
