The latter, definitely! ;-D Or, maybe just because you have an easier language to play with. Generally, I think Americans have a lot of ways to express something which reflects an easiness about the language (as I also find in your way of living) that we don't have as much. In Scandinavia, we pay more attention to expressing us the "correct" way, using only specific words for an intended message. Which is also less fun!
