I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but I can't remember it: why do Joni's albums not bear the credit "Produced by Joni Mitchell"? I haven't checked back through all of them, but certainly there's no producer credit on Mingus, nor on Hejira - even though the sleeve of Mingus credits Joni and two others for mixing the album.
Not like our Joan to be so coy, and she'd rightly have been proud of such a credit, it being virtually unheard-of at the time for a female artist to be producing her own records. Blimey, posting two JC items in a row - must be a record. Speaking of which, if anyone is curious about Mingus (the album) and has a decent record player, I'd recommend the original vinyl version, if you can find it, as you can enjoy the lovely paintings in all their glory. The same goes for For The Roses, but for different reasons, nudge nudge :-) Azeem in London, just having been amazed again by The Wolf That Lives In Lindsay. Over to Side 2...
