Hi all-

Has anyone heard Ellen McIlwaine's new CD titled Spontaneous Combustion? I
see she does a cover of Take Me to the River (Talking Heads).
Just a little tidbit quote from the Ellen McIlwaine site:

Excerpt from an article by Patricia Robertson titled SLIP SLIDING AWAY from
Avenue magazine, Dec. 2001:

If she plays like a cosmic force, why isn't she a household name? Many
female lead guitarists play brilliantly but remain obscure. "I can list a
whole bunch of female guitarists nobody's ever heard of, like Joanna Connor
and Jennifer Batten (who played with Jeff Beck and Michael Jackson). There
are a few who have broken out like Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, and Chrissie
Hynde, but many of us remain unnoticed." says McIlwaine.

Does anyone think that Ellen is making a sound quote here? We have CD's by
Joanna Connor but I haven't heard of Jennifer Batten. Is the music business
still the same old sexist business it's always been?
