I just flashed back to winning a record at the first dance I ever went to,
which was in 7th grade. I remember I was dancing "The Freddy." Does anyone
remember this one? Freddy and the Dreamers -- a "British Invasion" band --
had a hit called "The Freddy." It was one of those songs that tells you how
to do the dance it describes (like "The Locomotion" and "Simple Simon Says").
I think the words were something like, "Are you ready, let's do the Freddy,
are you ready, gonna do the Freddy . . . "
What a long, strange trip it's been, indeed!
