Back to me again:
Thanks, guys! I was sure Lulu married one of the Gibb brothers after her
highly publicized May/December marriage and divorce from Frank Sinatra!
And speaking of Lulu, here's another story with Lulu content . . .
After Janis and Jimi died in my senior year in high school, my best friend
and I decided to play a little joke. (I know their deaths were tragic -- and
I had even seen Janis' last concert that previous summer -- but we *were* 17
and I have always had a very dark sense of humor.)
Anyway, we started a rumor that Lulu had died of an overdose. Well, back then
no one had Internet access, so no one could check the story. (Hell, we were
glad to have pads of papyrus to write on in those days!) By the end of the
school day, the rumor had swept the school and my friend and I were killing
ourselves laughing over it. But as Ethel Merman would say, "HERE'S THE
KICKA!" Months later, our clueless classmates were still talking about "poor
Lulu" every time the subject of overdoses came up, which was quite often in
1970 - 1971!
OK, everyone. This is my last post for the night before anyone accuses me of
trying to hijack this list and turn it into the BMDL!
I have had a wonderful weekend filled with new friends and old friends I
haven't seen in a while, so I am really buzzed on all that positive energy
and I am very happy. Maybe I should go listen to Louf those "British
Invasion" groups . . . )
