OOOOH! I Love this thread....

I acknowledge Jerry's supremacy as the REAL JMDL Broadway Queen (who
wouldn't?), but I nominate myself as his Canadian counterpart (or at least
runner-up). In fact, I wonder who but Jerry would be remotely interested in
the following list, which is only about Broadway musicals, and in the
compiling of which I cheat shamelessly (ten just isn't enough....)

1. On the Town (Original Broadway Cast, or else the Tilson Thomas
recording in which Tyne Daly steals it from all those
boring opera
singers ;-)
2. West Side Story (Original Broadway Cast)
3. Rent
4. Anything Goes (for my money Cole Porter's wittiest)
5. My Fair Lady (musicals aren't supposed to get this classy, are
         they?)
6. Fiddler on the Roof
7. Hair
8. Kismet
9. RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN (here's where I start cheating):
I'd need Oklahoma!, Carousel (the film version is better and
more complete; the original has John Raitt. Give me both),
         South
Pacific, and The King and I (1996 revival with Donna Murphy and Lou
Diamond Philips)
10. STEPHEN SONDHEIM: Company, Follies (Original Cast AND Paper Mill
revival), A Little Night Music; Sweeney Todd; Merrily
We Roll
Along; Sunday in the Park With George; Into the Woods. PLUS:
The Collector's Sondheim, Putting it Together, and live
                 recordings by
Bernadette Peters, Barbara Cook, and Elaine Stritch.

On my desert island, I'd also require a TV, VCR, DVD player, and videos of
as many of the above as are available (and my favorite movies, of course).
Also some books, lots of soap and toothpaste, a few bottles of Gin
(accompanied by at least two of Kakki's hand-painted martini glasses), a few
more of Scotch and a lifetime's supply of red wine. A down comforter would
be nice, as would two (2) soft pillows. Also handy would be a microwave and
a small fridge. Absolutely compulsory: a piano and a computer (with
high-speed internet access).

Something tells me I'm not cut out for desert island life....

                 hee hee

love to all

Roberto
