hi all- i went and looked at nonesuch's website... and i don't mind the cover, but it does seem like treading some old ground. did anyone else notice that "for the roses" clocks in at 7:28!? i mean, i know orchestral versions tend to be long and drawn out, but i can't imagine a tight little piece like 'for the roses' almost doubled... i'm looking forward to hearing this album... but, and i know lots of people agree and lots of others disagree, i don't have high hopes for liking it. i'm keeping an open mind though!
in other upcoming-release-land, is anyone besides myself excited about the new tori album coming out in 2 weeks?! i have heard snippets from all the songs and a few sound like they're going to be GREAT. and how cool is it that bob and brenda were both listening to aimee mann! i love her. (i especially love the song 'i should've known', brenda). how sad am i that she isn't playing detroit. but i'd be more sad if she were because i'll be in LA while she's in the midwest. ah the irony. speaking of, aimee was listed to play in the Vanity Fair benefit at the Wiltern in LA on nov 5 along with neil finn and lucinda williams, etc. does anyone know if aimee is still playing that show? she doesn't appear to be listed there anymore... (and is anyone going? can anyone score tickets?! anyone want to pick me up from calabasas and drop me off again after the concert? i didn't think so...) hugs, yael
