It would be too difficult for me to list all time favorites. I don't know how you guys are doing it. I will comment on the selections mentioned by other people that sent chills up my spine when I read them.

K.D Lang-"My Old Addiction". This is such an incredible centerpiece for that whole album. The CD format has really changed the way artist present the whole concept of a concept album. The album "DRAG" is definitely a concept album. Now that we no longer have to flip over the LP, we are seeing a lot of CDs with a track somewhere in the middle that is usually a ballad, kind of of lengthy and a power house when it comes to emotional impact. This song and the way it was positioned on that album is a good example of a "centerpiece". I highly recommend this album. She does the only version of "Air that I Breath" that I haven't gotten sick of. Judy's version was tops until KD put hers out. Now I can't stand Judy's version. What about the first and last songs on Drag. What a way to open and close an album. She approached these songs as if they were classic standard and gives them very careful treatments. Had Joni done this with BSN, I think more people would have like it more without the usual "heavy orchestration" complaint that everybody likes to give it. I was very pleased with BSN though.

Billy Holiday-"I'll Be Seeing You". This is great but really MOST everything she has ever done is classic and high on the emotional factor!! "Don't Explain, Travelin' Light", etc..........................

FMac(S.Nicks)"Sara"
Classic soft rock. Full of that personalized mythological language that very few people can understand. I think that is one of the reasons why people are sooo attracted to people like Nicks and Tori Amos. Your never really sure that you have the whole picture within your grasp.

Liza is a great vocalist though I'm not sure I identify closely with any one of her interpretations.

Julie Andrews-This woman is CLASSIC. Everything she sang on that movie was sung with soooooooo much passion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!She made it believable.

PP& Mary-"Day is Done" Great! What about "500 miles" and "Any Day Know". Here you have a woman with a fair voice, at best, yet she can nail a song.

J Airplane- I'm a big fan. She also cut this("Somebody to Love") with her prior band called the Great Society. This was also a very good version but not as good as the one you are probably thinking of. She also did "White Rabbit" with this band with a very long recorder(flute like instrument) solo.

L. Ronstadt-"Prisoner..." is good but I think "Silver Blue" is the real magical cut on this album along with her definitive rendition of Dolly's "I Will Always Love You".

FMac(S.Nicks)-"Landslide" To me this song should be a bigger anthem than "Blowin' in the Wind". Rates extremely high in significance category. Even if everything else she's written were considered garbage just this song alone would have made her significant. I think Stevie is great! There is a great live version on the Fleetwood Mac Live double album(1980) where she changes up the melody a little. This usually spell disaster when you attempt this with a classic, but God does this version ever work! It is the most emotional version I have ever heard and it still stands up as her best 20 years later.

Joni-"A Case of You" Could any rendition of this song ever be labeled horrible? It would be very difficult to destroy the beauty of this song,. Just mouthing the words would probably do.

J.T.-Fire & Rain- Great choice. Taylor has come close a few times to the excellence of this song but I don't know that he could ever write anything that will top this.

All Along the Watch Tower- I actually saw a classical guitarist from Rhode Island break up his classical set and just burst into this song. I remember it being better than Jimmy's. Jimmy's version is tops as far as recorded version go.

U2-"Pride" is great on record and mega great live.

I would have to break out a couple of LPs to comment on the Karen Carpenter tune. Can't remember it off the top of my head.

Doris Day-I don't remember "Secret Love" but I know she does the best version of "Love Me or Leave Me" I have ever heard. She is also very good in the movie of the same title despite the fact that she spends half the time crying.

Roberta Flack-"Do what you gotta do" Great and everything else on that album is great too. Reverend Lee is reeeeaaaal spicy. Her first two album are great but I think I like 'Chapter Two' better than 'First Take'.

Mary Tyler Moore theme song should be released as a video! The beginning part and the little instrumental of the same song at the end. I loved Mary. I think even women were in love with Mary.

Will
