The best would be an electrostatic pair like the Koss, which go for about $600. If you are talking about the Bose with the noise cancellation technology (they actually intercept outside noises with a tiny microphone and produce an opposite signal that nulls the noise) they are supposedly very effective for noisy environs and sound good too. I have a higher end Sony set, a new set of Sennheisers, but for all around listening pleasure and just down right 'naturalness' I keep going back to my AKG 240's. They are a staple in every recording studio, and run $150 or maybe less. The only drawback, maybe, is that they are not a closed cup design, so they may not be the best for noisy environs. My all time faves are my Audio Technica ATH-7 electrostatics-they are amazing, but they don't make them anymore. RR
