I heard that there was a Travelogue critique on National Public Radio at 6:55 (EST) last night. It was done by a writer for the Wall Street Journal. I didn't hear it but I understand it was both hot and cold. My friend told me that he remembers the writer saying that this was Joni's last CD and if it was intended to be an overview of her work, it "sagged under the weight of her career." He also said certain of the scores were too grandiose for songs which were originally intended to be simple; other songs were appropriately scored to be bigger than life. Did anyone hear this review? My friend (actually my lover) only pays close attention if it has something to do with eating!
