I find this an odd article. How is the fact that the writer lived near Joni in the 70s relevant when evaluating the recent project? Hmmm, so Joni was a 20th century American Schubert, but with the release of a single album is now a self-absorbed hack? How can one admit a prejudice against the very concept of the album, then go on to use words like "terrible" and "abomination"?
Bottom line, he liked the old Joni. I agree in part with his assesment of the new lp, but this article is ridiculous. What's happened to the Times? It's the only daily that I can stand to read, but its "pop" reviews suck, vascillating between pretentiousness and idiocy.
