Speaking of Meryl Streep, she's wonderful, as always, in "The Hours". So
was Julianne Moore. I totally believed them both but the real surprise for
me was Nicole Kidman. She's often been tagged "vacuous" but wow, is she
believable as a woman with TOO MUCH on her mind! I think what she gave in
"The Hours" is a masterful performance completely worthy of Oscar's
attention.

Sheesh! I'm writing like a critic. "Completely worthy of Oscar's
attention." Somebody shut me up.

The recommendation is conditional in that I don't recommend it to anyone who
a.) has a handgun at home,
b.) a full bottle of sleeping pills,
b.) has been drinking Jack Daniels, or
c.) has a history of depression.

To me, as someone with 35 years of depression under my 47 year-old belt, it
"reads" like a commercial for suicide. Kids, don't try this at home. Keep
a journal. Write to me. Go to a professional, but don't try this at home.
These are actors. This is not real.

All the best,

Lama
