Well I guess the absence of your fellow alto would be weird here Catherine! I am so
running
behind the times here. Since you appear to be a much more trained singer than I, what
Kate
suggests is true, any song really is yours to sing. If you ow your key, which I
don't, you can
sing any song girl! If you wanted to find songs that have been done specifically in
alto, then
rather than look to the songs, I would look to the singers. Not that you want to sing
it in their
way, but at least for me it gives this untrained ear and voice a starting ground.
Might I
suggest, Nina Simone, Della Reese (before the skunk hair), Phoebe Snow, so long as you
don't try
to climb every mountain she does, and Diana Krall. I am looking mostly at jazzier
people here,
since you appear to be in search of standards or the like.

Hey and if you're planning this for fest let's put our heads & maybe our voices
together, as I am
planning a jazzier set this year. In fact it may be all jazz.

Peace,
Susan

just caught a glimpse of my own skunk hair - time for the grecian formula!
