the reality side is that this morning I had on NPR as always and all the
discussion of war and his father being a Marine - asking if his father
could get killed and would kill people - and discussing the difference
between hating war and loving the troops - what a great discussion for a
kid on his 8th birthday -
and knowing that in Iraq some grandparent is in the same situation as I
am, with a kid with a birthday today and the in-between son-parent being
in the military - their fears are the same -
puts everything in perspective -
