I think this is different in that nowadays there is so much instant, worldwide coverage of these horrific events. I'd think it would tend to make a wider range of people and lawmakers much more immedately concerned about enacting new codes and regulations to ensure safety in the future. > That is why so much car safety equipment is not mandated. The attitude here is cost be damned which sometimes makes for good regulations and sometimes insane regulations that cut off the nose (puts entire industries out of business overnight) to spite the face. But a bar/nightclub is a relatively simple environment to put in the basic in safety measures and have normal, routine inspections for compliance. I could not believe the RI club was filled every inch with explosive materials and no sprinklers. Gawd, it is so sad. Kakki
