It IS a very strong song musically & lyrically...maybe it doesn't get its due because 
it has no accompanying instrumental part, but for me that adds to the power of the 
song. And it's also done in great style by June Tabor whose voice is a perfect match 
for it.

Lyrically, what I find so moving about it is that in the first three verses she ends 
with a question, as if the conflict is avoidable, but by the final stanza she states 
the disappointing inevitability - "we have all come to fear the beating of your drum".
