Hello to all JMDListers - since not all of you are on the NEJonifest list, I thought I would forward this post to you so that you may know what we are up to over on the mini-list. We yearn for your participation in any way you can. Be well.
Hello all your wonderful Jonifest travelers, travelers, travelers. As you imagine yourself at Full Moon in the bucolic woods of the New York Catskills I want you to further imagine going into the barn and looking longingly at the wonderful items generously donated by your fellow JMDLers to benefit JoniMitchell.com. Now visualize yourself buying raffle tickets from Maggie, Alex and the other raffle helpers, hoping against hope that your name will be called when the time comes for the drawing. You're smart, so you keep buying those tickets to up your chances of winning that special something. All the while you feel good, because you know the money goes to support your community. Got it? To make this vision a reality we need items to offer! All items are welcome that relate in some way to Joni, her music, her values, her art and her passions, with the higher-end items reserved for the fundraiser and other items available for our every-popular give-away. The more special the item, the more special the incentive will be for Jonifesters to dig down deep and buy those tickets (while losing good sleep). Last year we had some really incredible things, thanks to you all and the efforts of Ms. Sharon Buffington. Now, I know that I have some mighty big shoes to fill (so to speak), so please, help me to carry on Sharon's legacy of fundraising success and get thinking about what you might be able to send along for this very-important component of the Jonifest weekend. If you are not able to attend (that's at least one big boo hoo) you can still support your community and participate from afar by finding/making/buying items for to the raffle. Everyone's invited to contribute! In our on-going commitment to making each year better than the last (NEJonifest # 6 coming up - woo-hoo!!), building on the successes and tweaking to improve, we are currently planning on holding the drawing on Saturday afternoon. All items will be on display in the barn, and then we'll gather in the afternoon for the fun. Late enough in the day to allow you all-nighters some shut-eye time, but not so late as to interfere with dinner or music-making. If you would e-mail me off list with your ideas I would greatly appreciate it. And finally all of the donations should be sent to Ashara since her house is bigger than mine and we just know that you guys will be so generous that we'll need a really big space for all the wonderful items that are sure to come pouring in.
