I don't think these were mentioned regarding the March/April
issue of Performing Songwriter:
1) That Klein is mixing "Stormy Weather II: A Benefit for the
Walden Woods Foundation." Besides Joni, Stevie Nicks,
Norah Jones, Reba, Sheryl, Branch, Tedeschi..."to be released
later this year" Hopefully to the public this time! This concert
took place in LA last November. I don't know what song(s)
Joni did. Does anyone know?
2) The guitar section spotlighted Larry Carlton, who talked
about his approach as an accompanist: "You have to be able to
improvise arrangements on the spot to be a great accompanist.
It's what you do with the phrases around the vocal that can make
the whole thing sound more connected."
As an example, he points to a song from one of his most
memorable sessions, Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark. Carlton
says, "I think there's a very good example of how to think like
an arranger. When Joni sings, 'Help me, I think I'm falling,' I do
a rake across the strings, and it makes her next phrase-'in love
again'-really cool because she has a chord to sit down on."
3) Radio DJ's Top Picks-Jody Denberg-program director for
KGSR Austin- Bob Dylan - Live 1975 [Sony] / Joni Mitchell
 - Travelogue [Warner] Two masters, two double discs, no new
material-and the equal of any CDs of new stuff on the racks.
