I need your love I need your love God speed your love to me' Think about those lyrics in relation to Joni's giving up that child. It's been a long, lonely time since she carried that baby. Time has gone by and that baby is not a baby anymore. Time can do so much. Can she really say that the child is hers anymore? (Are you still mine?). She needs to be reconnected.
