Melissa Manchester is big in the Philippines (surprising?!). Largely due to her hits like "Looking Through The Eyes of Love" from ICE CASTLES, "Don't Cry Out Loud", and "Fire in the Morning".
I bought her TRIBUTE album last year in a bargain store and I was surpised that she can scat very well and sing the jazz standards in the very idiom they were most wonderfully heard and appreciated. Like the other 70s-80s singer Maureen McGovern (who is also big in our 7000+ islands), Manchester can get into the heart of the song and make it hers... Check out her version of "Lady Be Good"....
